Take a Little Drive postcard 1FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Take a Little Drive” with the Voice of Aussie Siri

You’re driving along, alone on a dark road at night and you’re lost, but the soothing voice of your GPS reassures you with the word “Recalculating” and a series of turns back on the right road to your destination.

You may hear her voice all day every day answering your questions in one of 40 million iPhones (as the Australian Siri voice) or giving you directions in over 100 million GPS units around the world as Aussie Karen.

She’s known as The GPS Girl, and it’s not Karen Jacobsen’s speaking voice, but her singing voice we’ll be hearing with the release of her 8th CD “Take a Little Drive”.

With a concert on the May 14 release date at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theatre in New York City, Karen will navigate the audience through a set of her catchy, timeless, piano pop songs and breathy vocals, “Recalculating” along the way.

An award-winning singer and songwriter pre-GPS fame, Karen’s musical career highlights include sharing the stage with Norah Jones, Christopher Cross and Spyro Gyra as well as singing The Star Spangled Banner at Madison Square Garden, Dodger Stadium and Giants Stadium (for 80 000 Jets fans).

Karen moved to the Big Apple from Australia with a suitcase and a dream to follow in Olivia Newton-John’s footsteps, but becoming the voice of GPS was a total surprise.

“I have had hundreds and hundreds of experiences of people wanting to tell me their GPS stories and they are very familiar with me because to them I represent a real driving companion.” said Karen.

Her first new release in 5 years, (due to Motherhood to her now 5 year old son and building her empowerment brand The GPS Girl), Karen was moved to record this collection of songs after the events in Newtown CT on December 14th. “It was a deeply disturbing shock, especially having a son a similar age, and it became crystal clear to me it was time to not only be speaking, but to be singing into people’s hearts again.”

Take a Little Drive will be released on the Kurly Queen label on May 14th, available on iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby.com and at https://thegpsgirl.com

The release concert is at Joe’s Pub, 425 Lafayette Street, NYC at 7PM on May 14th, Tkts $20 in advance, $25 at the door from http://www.joespub.com

Karen will perform at the grand piano and welcomes special guest cellist Stephanie Winters whose recent credits include Saturday Night Live, a 2012 world premiere commission from Lincoln Center and a peace conference in Thailand.
